Stash Update

Hey girls,

Checking in again. I promise that series I promised and other blog posts will be coming soon. Today, however, I took a little time to go through my stash and update my stash page. I've added over 20 polishes to my collection since the last time I updated this list. LOL! After counting, I see that I've finally reached over 100 polishes, but I can't decide if that's a positive thing! LMAO! Let me know if you girls want to see a haul post of all the polishes I've gotten over the last several months. Stay tuned for that promised series! The goal is to start it next week! Yay! Talk to you girls later!

XOXO,
Jeanette

Update

Hey everyone,

First, let me apologize for abandoning the blog. My life has been insanely crazy over the last several months to the point that I barely recognize it. A combination of boring life stuff and emotional personal stuff has taken a major toll on me. Basically, I just want to move on from all that in any way I can, so I'm planning on committing to my blog again.

I'm looking to bring back the collection first looks and such, but I really want to start doing more swatches to help my stash page be more complete. Speaking of my Stash, it has expanded a bit, and funnily enough, I've barely bought anything from any recent collections. Between a couple eBay hauls, Christmas, and a killer find at Ross, I've added around 15-20 polishes to my collection. If you girls want a haul type blog post on those, let me know. I also have a series planned for August/September, so look out for that!

Thinking of getting into makeup more, and bringing that into this blog as well. I've always loved makeup, but I've never been able to put a collection together much, so hoping to dive into that more in the near future. The only problem I find with makeup is how expensive it can be. It's so much easier to buy a $9 polish than a $50 palette! LOL! But I REALLY want to start experimenting a bit, especially with brands like Sigma, Urban Decay, Too Faced, Benefit, and even MAC.

Hope you girls understand why the blog took a backseat for a while. Life has really done me in so far in 2014. Hopefully, things get back on the right track as best as possible. Looking forward to sharing everything beauty with all of you!

Thanks,
Jeanette

Sports Nail Tutorial: Oakland Athletics

Playoff baseball has started and I'm rooting hard for my favorite team, the Oakland Athletics! I decided to be festive this weekend and give my nails some A's pride! I made a video showing a step by step tutorial of how I did these nails, so check that out below. First, however, I'll tell you what you will need to make this adorable manicure!

What you'll need...
  • Green Nail Polish (I used OPI Don't Mess With OPI)
  • Yellow Gold Nail Polish (I used OPI The "It" Color)
  • White Nail Polish (I used OPI Alpine Snow)
  • Red Nail Polish (I used OPI All The Berry Best)
  • Dotting Tool (or Nail Art Brush or Red & White Nail Stripers or Nail Art Pens)
I used a dotting tool dipped in nail polish to do all the details on my manicure, but feel free to use nail art pens or stripers, or even a nail art brush. I just found I had the most control with a dotting tool.

This manicure is a fun little mix of colors and sports symbols. Please feel free to mix it up and make it your own, and please share your finished product in comments below! For those who want to follow my design exactly, let me tell you what I put on each finger.
  • Thumb: Green Base w/ White "A's" symbol
  • Index Finger: Yellow Gold
  • Middle Finger: White Base w/ Red "Stitching" to mimic a baseball
  • Ring Finger: Green Base w/White "A's" symbol
  • Pinkie Finger: Yellow Gold
Please let me know what you guys think of this manicure, and again, share with me your versions! I'm hoping to do more nail tutorials in the future, so let me know if you girls would enjoy that! Anyway, check out the video, and I'll talk to you girls later!

First Look: China Glaze Happy Holiglaze Collection Part 1

I've already previewed the upcoming OPI Mariah Carey Holiday Collection (Part 1|Part 2|Part 3), but now we're going to take a look at what China Glaze has to offer with their new Happy Holiglaze collection. It features twelve brand new shades including one shade in China Glaze's exclusive Texture finish. Below you will get a closer look at the colors and their names.

    So Blue Without You
    Bells Will Be Blinging
    Mingle With Kringle
    This is Tree-mendous

I might check out the glitters in this collection because China Glaze glitters are amazing. The cremes and shimmers will be a judgement call when I see them in person. I'm picky about China Glaze because of the small brush. How I wish the brush was bigger because their color selection is so amazing! Anyone else have major issues with the size of the brushes on China Glaze? Anyway, Bells Will Be Blinging, Your Present Required, and Be Merry, Be Bright look like the winners of this collection. At least in my opinion, that is. What are the winners in your opinion?

    Information Galore!

As we're approaching the end of the year with the holiday season fast approaching, I'm finding a ton of information on nail polish collections coming out. Most are holiday related collections, so I'll be posting a boatload of first look blog posts over the next several weeks. Please forgive me, but I know how much I love being informed about upcoming collections and figuring out what I want from each individual collection. I want to share all the information I find with you guys because I believe every nail polish girl should be well informed and ready to make all her collection purchases.

On the subject of holidays, who else is super excited for Halloween and Christmas?! My favorite time of year for sure!

    NTOTD: OPI La Paz-itively Hot

I'm coining a new phrase for my blog today... Nail Tale of the Day. I thought it was cute to play on the phrase "Nail of the Day" and give it a unique spin to go with my blog name. I'm hoping to do a lot more swatches in the coming weeks and months, so this little phrase will get a lot of use! The abbreviated version will be NTOTD, so when you see a blog post title with those five little letters, it's a brand new swatch for the day!

Today, we'll look at one of my favorite colors ever... OPI La Paz-itively Hot. It's a gorgeous hot pink color, which, in my opinion, is perfect all year round. I love it so much because it looks awesome with my skin tone, but honestly, I believe it would look amazing with almost all skin tones! If you don't own this color, go get it now! It's a must have for any nail polish girl!

Swatch is 2 coats in natural light.
